‘LearnOnOne’ Premieres Anti-Bullying Documentary

Windhoek International School (WIS) and LearnOnOne proudly

The halls of Windhoek International School (WIS) have become a stage for powerful storytelling, and now, their voices are set to resonate across Namibia. Together with LearnOnOne, WIS presents ‘Behind the School Doors,’ a documentary created by WIS Theatre learners. The production addresses the issue of bullying, particularly in schools. Premiering exclusively on LearnOnOne, this raw and authentic documentary, produced by OneAfrica TV, offers an unfiltered look at bullying from the learner’s perspective.

‘Behind the School Doors’ promises to be more than just entertainment. It’s a vital platform elevating youth voices, sparking crucial awareness, and igniting meaningful conversations about fostering safer school environments for Namibian school children.

Rukee Kaakunga, Brand Manager of LearnOnOne, states, “We are proud to provide a platform for this vital, student-led initiative.” This partnership emphasises LearnOnOne’s commitment to delivering educational content and empowering young Namibians to address critical social issues.

The power of ‘Behind the School Doors’ lies in its authenticity. As Ethan Van Drunen, the WIS Educational Director, emphasises, “While the characters and storylines in this drama may be fiction, the problems are very real. As a school, WIS takes bullying prevention very seriously, and it is great to see our students, in partnership with our WIS Alumni and LearnOnOne, produce something which captures the importance of empathy and action.”

Echoing this sentiment, WIS Theatre Teacher Ms Diana Apria highlights the show’s profound connection to reality: “The script will feel real to the audience because it was based on real-world interviews and acted by students who were passionate about this topic. Every student in Namibia should watch this show.” This isn’t a dramatization from a distance; it’s a reflection of lived experiences, making it all the more impactful and relatable.

This production offers viewers an emotionally resonant and informative narrative. It’s an opportunity to gain invaluable insights into the far-reaching effects of bullying and the urgent need for proactive solutions within our educational institutions. This show isn’t just about identifying the problem; it’s about fostering empathy, understanding and driving positive change.
